A New Name: Same Vision

The Evangelical College of Christian Studies and Thelogical Seminary began as a result of the founder and president, Dr. Timothy Hurley’s, desire to provide a manner in which persons in ministry might prepare to be more effective through serious study and training. Opening under the name of the Christian Studies Institute of Florida, grew tremendously in its first year. In the summer of 2007, it was decided by the Board of Directors to change the name of the institution to reflect the scope and mission of the College. The new name, Evangelical College  and Theological Seminary grew out of the conviction of the institution's leadership to be an arm of evangelization, spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. 

Dr. Hurley has many years experience as a pastor and Christian educator, having served previously as the dean of Christian Colleges. Dr. Hurley also served as a pastor of both English- and Spanish-speaking congregations for over twenty-five years. He has had the long-term vision of preparing non-English speaking persons for ministry, as well as those who are native English speakers.

Mrs. Hurley, Executive Vice President of the College, is a lifelong educator, having served as a classroom teacher for sixteen years, then as both an instructor and administrator in health related fields. From their sense of call, the Hurley’s and their associates founded Evangelical College in the summer of 2006. While the school is relatively new, the curriculum and delivery methods are tried and tested. The leadership is experienced and prepared to serve God.
